KC WHEAT TURNS LOWER AFTER HIGHER OPENING – July 1,2009
Kansas City wheat futures opened higher on carryover strength from overnight trading and a weaker U.S. dollar, according to traders. Egypt bought 90,000 metric tones of French and U.S. wheat, also bringing some support to opening prices.
There was no follow through in buying this morning, as wheat continues to struggle with weakness in the corn market and the ongoing harvest, traders said.
There were 15 delivery intentions reported in Hutchinson this morning, and 50 in Salina. Salina also reported 63 reintentions against the KC July contract.
KC July wheat was 2 ¼ cents higher at $5.89 at midday.
CASH GRAIN: Lower proteins are weaker possibly by a dime, and higher proteins are firmer, according to traders.
