JSE suffered yesterday a half hour halt in its equity market due to “multiple link flaps” on the primary telecommunications link which originated in the international carrier network in Europe.

SGX will list shares of the Manchester United soccer team after assuring a faster approval process which could take as little as four weeks (instead of the usual two to three months). The company plans to raise $1 bn.

OXPS will be dropped from the S&P SmallCap 600 index on August 31. The company was acquired by Schwab last March but the merger has not yet been completed.

The CFTC is in talks to settle the first case of a national crude oil investigation in which the regulator accused Optiver of manipulating oil futures during 11 days in March 2007, sending the price of oil from $60 to over $100.
