Energy companies searching for natural gas

Energy companies remain interested in searching for natural gas in Stark County, although none has started a large horizontal drilling project. Chesapeake Energy remained far ahead of other oil and natural gas development companies during the first quarter of 2011 when it came to signing new mineral rights leasing agreements. The company also had a contractor offer free water tests in advance of possible drilling to more than 400 Plain Township residents.
Stark County’s largest well operator, EnerVest Energy, drilled an exploratory vertical well into the Utica shale, one of two rock formations that energy companies believe could be loaded with natural gas. For full article, click here.
