Company:About Us
The Need for Transparency in Commodities
Global markets and a growing appetite for alternative investments have combined to fuel public interest in commodities.
FMX Connect, LLC was founded to address the demand for better information in an industry long dominated by limited access to opaque markets. The founders set out to aggregate data from multiple venues and present it in an objective, intelligent way for all market participants to use in their analysis. FMX Connect has since evolved into a full-fledged Commodity Portal, designed to meet the total informational needs of the modern commodity trader.
Reasons for Demand Growth
FMX Connect is positioned to capitalize on the following factors:
What Bloomberg did for Bonds, we believe FMX Connect can do for Commodities. By giving the ability to access global information in one database we increase transparency and streamline the investment process.
Founders and Principals
FMX Connect was founded by Vincent Lanci, Bill Mountford, and Shannon Thompson
Mr. Lanci brings 20 years of commodity derivative experience as one of the largest independent marketmakers in Energy and Metals commodity options, fresh off a recent success as a fund manager handling the CiS Energy Nat Gas portfolio. His contributions consist of option analytics and general content curation.
Mr. Mountford was a programmer at Bloomberg for ten years and helped build Whentech’s PitTrader and the BrokerLogic Clearport OES along with Mr. Lanci. Mr. Mountford’s expertise has proved invaluable in database design, and much-touted database tools like the firm’s Volumes and Open Interest Tool.
Shannon Thompson is an expert in web-based design and architecture. He was responsible for implementing real-time communications capability, search optimization, and over-all design logistics.
Peter Beutel, President of Cameron Hanover Research, is a friend, advisor and frequent contributor to FMX Connect. Peter’s fundamental and technical analysis is among the best in the industry. Cameron Hanover’s Daily Energy Hedger and other research publications are available through the website. www.Cameronhanover.com
ER Desk’s principals, Diego Perfumo and Bernardo Mariano have also contributed to the company’s business development. In addition to their expertise in market logistics, they distribute ER Desk’s Exchange Newswire to Goldman Sachs Redi clients thru FMX Connect’s hosting technology. www.ERDesk.com

The Mission
FMX Connect’s principals had a common goal: to provide a central place where Commodity Brokers, Traders and individual investors could come to get objective information on commodities without the sensationalism or hyperbole so often associated with those markets. Chief among our goals were to:
Aggregate important data for OTC Brokers/ Traders to help make trading and broking decisions
- So we created widgets like our VOI Tool, which lists energy OTC prices and activity from the previous day in an easy to use drop down list.
- By listing energy Cash market prices and differentials for cross market trading.
Offer professional grade option analytics for commodity derivative traders
- We created option reports with ATM, Smile, and settlement data for Energy, Metals and Grains.
- We aggregate best bid/ offer consensus markets for option portfolio re-valuation and MTM services
Distribute professional research without bias
- We partnered with Cameron Hanover in Energy Research
- FMX publishes ER Desk’s fundamental analysis on the Exchange Industry vertical to GS clients
- We whitelabel our research for Brokers to use as sales tools.
Our intention is to build on these early collaborative successes with new applications and partnerships for fostering transparency and facilitating more interest in the markets we know and represent.
Profile
FMX connect has built a unique, interested community of commodity buy-side and sell-side viewership.
The buy-side consists of individual investors seeking more information to enter these markets, and professional traders seeking data reports. The sell side includes OTC brokers, Futures brokers, data providers, exchanges, and research firms seeking subscribers. Viewership comes from the US, Europe, Argentina, India and Brazil where we recently began a joint venture with the number three Bovespa commodity broker to develop an RFQ platform for their clients.
